Just the Ten of Us

Just the Ten of Us is an ABC network sitcom series created by Dan Guntzelman & Steve Marshall. It was a spin-off of another ABC series, "Growing Pains."

The show aired from April 26, 1988 to May 4, 1990, lasting for three seasons & 47 episodes.

Plot

The series centers on the Lubbocks, a large Catholic family that moves to Eureka, California after Graham Lubbock (who works as a gym teacher) is offered a job at an all-boys private Catholic school.

As the series progressed, the teenage daughters: Marie, Cindy, Wendy & Connie became the primary focus.

Cast

  • Bill Kirchenbauer as Coach Graham T. Lubbock
  • Deborah Harmon as Elizabeth Lubbock
  • Heather Langenkamp as Marie Lubbock
  • Jamie Luner as Cindy Lubbock
  • Brooke Theiss as Wendy Lubbock
  • JoAnn Willette as Connie Lubbock
  • Matt Shakman as Graham "J.R." Lubbock, Jr.
  • Heidi Zeigler as Sherry Lubbock

Production

In the pilot episode of "Just the Ten Of Us" (which aired on "Growing Pains" in the spring of 1988), Graham's job is in jeopardy due to district budget cutbacks. Mike leads a protest after he learns that Lubbock is trying to support a large family (including yet another baby on the way).

Graham ends up losing his job, but he is soon offered a job at St. Augustine's Academy, an all-boys private Catholic school in Eureka, California, so he promptly moves his family to California.

The show first aired as a trial run from April 26 to May 17, 1988. After the first four episodes in an abbreviated first season were aired, it was renewed for two more seasons, eventually ending after 47 episodes on May 4, 1990.
