Galavant is an American fairy tale-themed musical comedy television series that was created, written, and executive produced by Dan Fogelman with executive producers Alan Menken, Glenn Slater (both also serving as songwriters and composers), Chris Koch (who is also a director), and Kat Likkel & John Hoberg (also serving as writers) for ABC Studios.
The show first aired on January 4, 2015, but on January 31, 2016, it was canceled after two seasons and 16 episodes.
The series follows the adventures of Galavant, a dashing knight hero down on his luck who is determined to reclaim his reputation and his "Happily Ever After" by going after the evil King Richard, who ruined it the moment he stole the love of Galavant's life, Madalena. He is assisted by Princess Isabella, whose kingdom of Valencia Richard has conquered, and Sid, his squire. Meanwhile, the murderous but weak-willed Richard tries to win over the scheming Madalena. The episodes chronicle Galavant's journeys (and the twists and turns that go along with them) through musical numbers composed and written by Menken and Slater.
