Ellen is an ABC network sitcom, starring stand-up comedian Ellen Degeneres in the title role. It was created by Neal Marlens, Carol Black and David S. Rosenthal.
The show first premiered on March 29, 1994 and was originally called "These Friends of Mine" during its first season, but was changed to "Ellen" to avoid confusion with the NBC series "Friends" (which premiered in September of that same year.
