American Idol is a singing competition show that is broadcast on the ABC network. The show was first aired on Fox before being revived for ABC on March 11, 2018. The show was created by Simon Fuller, who created the original concept for this show as Pop Idol, which was broadcast on ITV starting on October 6, 2001. The show is responsible for introducing many famous musicians, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Adam Lambert, and Chris Daughtry to name a few.
It was renewed in 2020 for a 19th season, which will be the fourth season to air on ABC. This season will premiere on Sunday February 14 at 8|7c on ABC.

Its debut in the United States revolutionized television, pioneering the reality-competition genre and holding an unmatched record for being the highest-rated series for nearly a decade. American Idol is produced by Fremantle and Industrial Media's 19 Entertainment. Executive producers include Fremantle's Trish Kinane, also serving as showrunner, Jennifer Mullin and Megan Wolflick, with Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman serving as executive producers for 19 Entertainment. Fremantle distributes the series worldwide.
