The ABC Afterschool Special is an ABC Kids anthology series which aired from October 14, 1972 to July 1, 1997 (usually in the late afternoon hours on weekdays), lasting for 25 seasons & 154 episodes.
The show centered on topics such as illiteracy, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, issues in school and issues at home.
Most of the episodes were dramatically presented situations (often controversial) of interest to children and teenagers, and several episodes were either in animated form or presented as documentaries.
